ORGANIZES AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
WITH THE THEME:
METHODS AND TECHNIQUES OF SAFE RECOVERY AND ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY UTILIZATION OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND OVERSIZED OBJECTS LYING IN THE WATERS OF THE VISTULA LAGOON
CONFERENCE AIM:
Presentation of modern methodology and technology of explosives and hazardous materials recovery on the land and in the water as well as of equipment lying in shallow waters and also various methods of their taking out and safe neutralization, observing environmental requirements.
Popularization of the elaborated methodology and technology of DUD neutralization as well as promotion of the Conference results and presented innovative activities and technological solutions, among institutions and professional companies which are dealing with these issues.
TASKS:
- detection and scanning;
- DUDS & UXOs* and recovery;
- DUD S & UXOs*neutralization.
CONFERENCE TOPICS:
- statutory requirements for taking care of environment cleanliness vs. threats resulting from remnants of military conflicts and liquidation of land and maritime training grounds;
- usage of equipment for manual search of hazardous materials (detectors, magnetometers, röntgen meters, ground penetrating radars, etc.);
- usage of mechanical equipment for scanning the terrain surface for deposited DUDS and UXOs;
- detection, location assessment and taking out of bombs deposited deeply in the ground;
- ways of sweeping deposited bombs, torpedoes and other hazardous materials from the sea bottom;
- requirements and procedures in force for taking out and utilization of military chemical ammunition;
- principles of temporary storage and transport of DUDS & UXOs;
- modern techniques of hazardous materials neutralization with non-explosive methods (cutting with water stream, washing out, explosion in gas-tight containers, decomposition with chemical agents, etc.);
- terrain certification before and after removing hazardous materials, pursuant to the UN IMAS standards;

*OMO - oversized military objects

Among others, the Association realizes its statutory objectives through environment protection, in particular the Vistula Spit and the Vistula Lagoon, by means of removing from these waters and adjacent terrains the military objects and DUDS & UXOs coming back to the World Wars, cooperating with the Russian Partner who has the same tasks in the Kaliningrad Region.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS:
The Organizing Committee extends the invitation to the Conference to representatives of science, practitioners and companies dealing with the issues of removing hazardous materials from water basins and terrains and their safe neutralization by various means.
CONFERENCE AGENDA:
Conference date: 24-26 April 2012, in Gdynia
Arrival: 24 April until 6 p. m., closing: 26 April at 2 p. m.
Submission of registration in the Conference – until 20 March 2012 – with the note "Conference".
Submission of the lecture/presentation text – until 10 April 2012.
Conference registration fee – until 15 April 2012.
The Conference language is English, simultaneously interpreted into Polish.
PARTICIPATION COSTS:
- · Conference fee is: PLN 690 or EUR 160
- · The fee covers:
- participation in the Conference;
- board during the Conference, inclusive of ceremonial dinner on 25 April 2012;
- Conference materials;
- popularization of presented solutions un course of the Association's statutory activity.
Payments should be made to the bank account mentioned above – with the note "Conference"
ACCOMMODATION (at individual request of the interested participant).
Further on in this Announcement, example hotels and distances to the Conference venue are presented.
COMPANIES' PRESENTATION:
There will be special places at the Conference, for visual presentation of the solutions applied by companies and equipment manufacturers.
The Organizers invite those interested to present companies at the exhibition stands as well as to make presentations during the Conference.
The following forms of presentation are provided for to companies and organizations:
1) presentation in the Conference materials;
2) arrangement of the promotion stand;
3) company presentation during the Conference;
4) placing the company logo on the Organizer's web-site;
5) adding to the Organizer's database and sending theme information.
Costs of the above services shall have been set directly with the customers, after the specific requirements are defined.
